Orkney Marine Life!
This is a website devoted to all the creatures (big and small) that inhabit the air and waters around the Orkney Isles.
Situated off the north coast of Great Britain, the Orkney are an archipelago of around 70 islands. As only 20 of these islands are actually inhabited, there is ample space on the other islands for wildlife to spread. The 50 or so uninhabited islands are perfectly situated for ecosystems to thrive and, indeed, there are a number of species animals and plants that can only be found on the Orkney Isles.
With a population of around 21,000 people living on total land mass of 990 km², it’s really no surprise that marine life has flourished as well as it has on the Orkney Isles. In this blog, we’ll be detailing the kind of marine life that you can find on these islands, how you can discover this marine life for yourself and also where you can eat and stay whilst you’re here.
